Adam Curran was in really good form for Byker B in the Tesco Express Northumbria League First Division last week when he won all of his sets in two matches. First he was unbeaten in the top of the table clash with Cramlington Trojans, defeating Phil Prady, Akshay Pabary and Paul Baines in a drawn match. Prady and Pabary got two each for the Trojans. Later in the week Curran repeated his sequence of wins against Newton B in another drawn match,Graeme Bell getting two for Newton.

NESLC  Legends beat Blaydon A in the Premier Division, Andrew Wilkinson and Marc Cotton being too good  for the opposition whilst the clash between Cramington Venture Portraits and Stingers ended up all square with Iain Wood unbeaten for the Stingers and Ellis Cooper and Dale Aitkenhead getting two apiece for Portraits.

In division two Birtley looked in trouble away to North Shields YMCA B when they went down 2 – 1 but an unbeaten performance from John Rowell helped by two wins each by Bob Dodds and Eddie Kennedy took them to an 8 – 2 success. In the same division Gareth Pearson won all three of his sets as his team, Cramlington Cobras edged out Newcastle Community B 6 – 4, Alan Hedley claiming two sets and combining with Pearson to win the doubles.

Three victories by Neil Rodgers, backed up by two each by Mark Rodgers and Mike Lyons gave third division Ouston B a 7 – 3 win over Whitley Chapel

and North Shields C won 6 – 4 away to Cramlington Dragons. Ray Pini starred in this match with three singles wins and also helping Steve Todd to win the doubles set.

Fourth Division Cramlington Dynamos had Aubrey Drapkin in form as he defeated Jim Broadbent, Ken Brown and Terry Duff to help the Dynamos defeat the Lions. He was well backed up by young Sam Carlton who beat Brown and Duff. Broadbent finished with two wins for the Lions.

Greg Bojke and Tomasz Orzechowski won two each for Cramlington Swifts in a drawn match with Cramlington Jaguars, Mick Sursham and Peter Seago doing likewise for the Jaguars.

The Northumbria League Junior side of Adam Curran, Ellis Cooper and Ryan Guttridge were unbeaten in the North East section of the Junior National  League played at Billingham to finish in top position at the end of the first session.
